Candy Dulfer's fame in the world of music dates back in the 1990s when she founded her own band known as Funky Stuff at a tender age of only fourteen years. From that time, she has excelled in recording music having released a total of nine studio albums and two live concert albums as well as a one compilation album. Dulfer, born on 19th September 1969 in Netherland's Amsterdam city, began playing drums by the age of five. And, at six years, she could play soprano saxophone. Dulfer has recorded and performed songs with great musicians like Van Morrison, Dave Steward, and even her father, Hans Dulfer.
In 1987, Dulfer's band featured as the opening act for Madonna's two concerts staged in Europe. In another European show, Dulfer was invited by Prince in 1988 to play an improvised solo before appearing in "Partyman" video that was later released in 1989 by Prince. In 1990, Dulfer released her first debut album entitled Saxuality, which was nominated for Grammy awards. This album also received recognition as a certified gold owing to its worldwide sales that exceeded half a million. Dulfer's song "Lily Was Here" managed to rank number-eleven among the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Dulfer featured in other performances including "A Night in San Francisco" by Van Morrison, where she appeared as saxophonist. In collaboration with her father Hans, they released a duet album that was dubbed "Dulfer Dulfer" back in 2001. Her ninth album was "Candy Store" that was released in 2007. This album managed to clinch position number-2 in Top Contemporary Jazz Billboard charts. The Candy Store song was among the two of her songs that managed to scoop number-1 position in US Smooth Jazz National Airplay charts.
