With nine studio albums in her name plus two live albums and a compilation album, Candy Dulfer is truly considered as one of the world’s renowned smooth jazz alto saxophonists.
Born in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Candy performed with her band throughout her home country in 1987 and even joined Madonna’s European concerts as an opening act twice. She was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1990 with her debut album ‘Sexuality’ which was a certified gold for tremendous sales worldwide.
Dulfer’s “Lily Was Here” climbed to No. 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was also a big hit all over Europe dominating all the music charts. She then performed and recorded songs with Europe’s greatest musicians and artists like her father Hans Dulfer, Van Morrison, Maceo Parker and Prince Dave Stewart. She also had a memorable performance with the Alan Parsons Project in 1995 during the World Liberty Concert.
Dulfer penetrated again the Billboard chart when her ninth album ‘Candy Store’ reached the No. 2 spot in top contemporary jazz. Her song “L.A. Citylights” dominated the US Smooth Jazz National Airplay charts with consistent number 1 position for weeks.
In 2007, Dulfer had her own television show “Candy Meets…” where she interviews various personalities like Mavis Taples and Sheila E.
